- Abstract
TiO@SiO core/shell nanoparticles have been synthesized by sol-gel method from tetraethylorthotitanate and tetraethylorthosilicate. The synthesized products were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectrum, electron dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and ultraviolet-visible. The results revealed that compared to SiO and TiO, TiO@SiO core/shell nanoparticles display smaller crystal size and greater band gap energy. The photocatalytic activity of the synthesized products has been compared in the photodegradation activity of methylene blue.
