- Authors
BORUKHOV, BORIS
- Abstract
The article discusses the identity of Robert Chester, the author of the poetry collection "Love's Martyr." The author discusses a theory by scholar A. Grosart suggesting that Robert Chester, a squire of Royston in Hertfordshire, England, wrote the book. Scholar Carleton Brown dismissed that theory. The author suggests notes that the author of "Love's Martyr" may have been a patron of nobleman John Salusbury and was not an esquire. He comments that no other documents attributed to the author can be connected to Robert Chester of Royston and that their signatures are different.
