- Title
Improving the Tools Used for Rolling Rings in Helical Passes.
- Authors

- Abstract
The use of rotary rolling in grooved rolls to make rings (semifinished products) 55–120 mm in diameter makes it possible to reduce production costs by a factor of 2–5 while increasing labor productivity compared to the traditional technology, which is based on the use of mechanical equipment to cut tubes into rings. Experience in performing such rolling and an analysis of the formation of products in helical passes has shown that the process of filling of pass with metal depends appreciably on the coordinated work of the compression section of the roll and the first turn of the wedge. Excel was used to develop a program to calculate the parameters for rolling in helical passes. The program makes it possible to solve the problem of coordinating the operation of the helical and compression sections of the rolls.
