- Abstract
Examines the dissimilarity in the trends in labor force participation of men and women 45 years and older in the United States in the post-World War II period and the social and economic developments contributory to these trends. Factors that may influence a worker to leave the labor force before retirement age; Provisions of private pension plans permitting worker to retire at age 62 or even younger with reduced benefits; Socioeconomic trends that may affect the trend in early retirement and the availment of disability payments.
