- Abstract
Objective: To understand the experience of nurses in the process of implementing Permanent Education in a Hospital Maternal and Infant Care Unit of a complex located in a city in São Paulo state, Brazil and to develop a theoretical model that represents it. Method: exploratory research, qualitative in nature and delineated by Grounded Theory (GT), a method of data analysis that consists in the discovery and development of a theory based on the information obtained and analyzed systematically and comparatively. We interviewed 11 nurses who work in the aforementioned hospital and who participate in the activities of Permanent Education in the scenario. Results: from the data analysis, two subprocesses emerged that led to the central category: "relationship of trust with the manager as an intervening component for nurses to assume the role of transforming agent of their praxis. This relationship of trust is constructed from attitudes of cooperation, support, understanding and, mainly, proximity to their leaders, enabling these professionals to think critically about their work process. Final considerations: This research made it possible to experience the applicability of a public policy, which discusses the feasibility of propagating pedagogical capacity for all Unified Health System workers, although with limitations in integrating training, management, care, and participation. However, it is visible the possibility of putting health work in evidence, which requires workers who learn to learn, to develop caregiver practices, favoring social control, and especially the commitment of management to integrality.
