- Abstract
Objective To develop anair-fluidized bed for the burn patient to prevent foot drop and eliminate the deficiencies of the traditional one. Methods The bed developed was composed of a bed base, a bed body, a bedstead, a foot support and composition silicon material. There was a demountable bedstead consisting of a longitudinal supporting rod and a lateral hanging bar, and stationary rings at the hanging bar could be used for upper body functional exercise; the foot support slid up and down to hold the feet; the bed was wrapped with stainless steel sheet, and the foot support was made of wood. Results The air -fluidized bed avoided foot drop during the treatment of the patient with double lower limbs burn, enhanced patient comfort and decreased the workload of the medical staffs. Conclusion The air-fluidized behaves well in foot drop prevention during the treatment ofthe patient with double lower limbs burn, and thus is worthy promoting clinically.
