- Abstract
Investment analysis is of great relevance to the agricultural sector as it identifies changes in the market. The objective of this study was to evaluate the economic viability of planting soybean crop and sorghum safrinha. Data and information on the technical coefficients for crop management were obtained through local, regional surveys and interviews with local producers. Costs were organized following the Effective Operating Cost (COE) and Total Cost (TC) structure. To determine economic viability, annual cash flows were used and the economic indicators were applied: Net Present Value (NPV), Benefit / Cost Ratio (R B/C) and discounted Payback, in addition to Sensitivity Analysis. The results obtained with the soybean indicators were: NPV of R$ 724.16, R B/C Ratio equal to 1.05 and payback from the first year. For sorghum, the results were: NPV of R$ 382.30, R B/C equal to 1.07 and payback in the first year. The cultivation of soybean and sorghum safrinha were economically viable activities for the study region, considering the management conditions, inputs, operations and methodologies adopted in this work. However, it is worth mentioning the risk of economic return of both cultures due to changing scenarios.
