- Abstract
This article discusses a new technique for studying the growth and development of pollen tubes within flowers. The researchers used transgenic plants to isolate and analyze the transcripts of pollen-specific proteins without the need for dissection. They found significant differences between pollen tubes grown in vitro and those grown in vivo, highlighting the importance of communication with maternal tissues. The study also identified several pollen tube proteins involved in the late stages of pollination, which could be potential targets for further research. Overall, this study demonstrates the usefulness of microgenomics techniques for studying cell-specific gene expression.
