- Abstract
This article presents a case study on contact dermatitis. Contact dermatitis to lichens is not very frequent. In the medical case, clinical manifestations were erythema and scaling and sometimes also swelling, vesicles and itching. They were usually localized in light-exposed areas or round the waist, and less frequently were generalized. The localization of the lesions in light-exposed areas might suggest the coexistence of photosensitization. The incidence of the eruption in winter, its occasional localization in covered areas and the nonsignificant result of the photopatch test in two patients are more in favor of simple contact dermatitis due to the dust of airborne lichens set free by mechanical processes.
