- Abstract
In this interview with Emiliano Bruner, a doctor in Animal Biology and an expert in Paleoneurobiology of Hominids, the evolution of the human brain and mind is discussed. Bruner explains that natural selection does not favor individual traits, but rather interconnected "packages" of traits. Additionally, it is mentioned that the parietal lobes show more evident morphological changes in human evolution. Regarding the human brain, the importance of the precuneus in the integration of somatic and visual information is highlighted, although excessive mind wandering can generate stress and anxiety. Bruner also emphasizes the importance of considering the interaction between the brain, the body, the environment, and culture in cognitive processing. Finally, he advises aspiring researchers in cognitive science not to rely too much on the expectations and promises of the economic and cultural system.
