- Title
Exile and Cunning: The Tactical Difficulties of George Lamming.
- Authors
Brown, J. Dillon
- Abstract
This essay draws a connection between the anti-colonial themes of Caribbean novelist George Lamming and the criticism and production of his books in metropolitan London. His writing pits a West Indian audience against an imperial society, and an unorthodox prose style against Caribbean nationalism. The contrast between exile literature and immigrant fiction is explored alongside the British anthropological lens through which national culture is seen.
