- Abstract
This article aimed to understand tourism from an interdisciplinary perspective, covering different areas and at the same time interconnected through leisure and travel activities. This study seeks to approach tourism by conceptualizing through the main authors who establish their relationship with education seen from the eighteenth century to the time of the Grand Tour. This research is concerned with a brief analysis of this segment worked together with education, that is, Tourism Studies and exchanges and how this proposal has been changing the behavior and actions of alumni of the Graduate Degree in Tourism Course Federal University of Piaui, from the main motivations that led them to participate in an exchange offered by the university. Given this, what changes have had in personal and professional life, whose main focus was to understand this relationship through an exploratory research addressing pedagogical tourism in the context of exchanges as a process of expansion of educational and professional knowledge. For this, the methodology applied in 2017 was used qualitative approach through data collection through interviews with former students. Through the results achieved it was possible to realize the importance of the agreements made between the university and the international exchange programs, as well as a positive charge demonstrated through the personal and professional enrichment of the interviewees, who said they had a different worldview after the accomplishment of an exchange, making it clear that contact with different cultures changes human thinking and behavior as well as transforming their lives.
