- Abstract
The article describes the case of a 70-year-old man with acute appendicitis and abscess in the setting of a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt. The patient underwent laparoscopic appendectomy and repositioning of the VP shunt after his acute abdominal pain had worsened a fluid collection in his right lower quadrant adjacent to his cecum and dilated appendix was found. He was given antibiotics after the procedure. He was re-admitted due to nausea and fevers but eventually recovered.
