- Abstract
A literary critique is offered for the 1997 novel "The God of Small Things," by the Indian author Arundhati Roy, focusing on its depiction of racial identity and subjection within Kerala, India. A brief overview is given of the novel's plot and setting, focusing on whites in India. Additional topics addressed include Anglophilia in Indian society, the theme of blindness within the novel, and issues of untouchability within the Indian caste system.
