- Title
Prelimbic Prefrontal Neurons Drive Fear Expression: A Clue for Extinction—Reconsolidation Interactions.
- Authors
Schiller, Daniela; Johansen, Joshua
- Abstract
The author reflects on the vital role played by prelimbic prefrontal neurons in predicting impending danger. The author mentions that the inactivation of prelimbic cortex (PL) reduced conditioned fear responses and these inputs came from hippocampus and sensory cortex. Moreover, PL is the target of neuromodulators, like norepinephrine and dopamine that are released as a result of frightening stimuli.
