- Abstract
A study published in the journal Allergy investigated the effect of the drug dupilumab on sputum eosinophils in patients with moderate-to-severe asthma. The researchers conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with 25 adults and found that dupilumab reduced sputum eosinophil levels compared to the placebo. However, the reduction was statistically significant at week 8 but not at week 16. The study suggests that dupilumab may be effective in reducing eosinophilia in patients with modest eosinophilia, but further research is needed. The study was funded by Sanofi and Regeneron, and the authors disclosed potential conflicts of interest.
