- Title
The Race Arithmetic of the Global Lung Function Initiative Global Reference Equations.
- Authors
Wang, Richard J.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the critique of the methodology used to derive the Global Lung Function Initiative (GLI) Global reference equations, specifically addressing concerns about the uncritical use of racial categories, lack of justification for selecting sample weights, and discrepancies in reported weights. Topics include the comparison of race-specific and non–race-based reference equations, the proposal to apply "inverse-probability weights" to address perceived biases.
