- Abstract
In this issue, Li et al. report their findings on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based evaluation of liver ischemia.[1] Previously, it has been demonstrated in a rabbit model that multiparametric MRI is feasible to address hepatic warm ischemia-reperfusion injury (WIRI).[2] The background for this investigation is liver damage after surgery, trauma, hemorrhagic shock, or liver transplantation.[[3]] MRI is well suited to evaluate liver condition due to its noninvasiveness and coverage of large parts, or even the whole organ. Can intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion-weighted imaging characterize the cellular injury and microcirculation alteration in hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury?.
