- Abstract
The article reports on cases of bankruptcy declarations by U.S. faith-based organizations as of February 2014. Pamela Foohey, assistant professor at University of Illinois, references research that finds nearly 1 percent annual shutdown and 2.6 percent filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, mainly due to unpaid debts. Religious institutions included Richmond Christian Center in Virginia, Madison Park Church of God in Anderson, Indiana and Crystal Cathedral Ministries in Orange County, California.
