- Abstract
The article focuses on a study which investigated rodent reservoirs of Bartonella spp., a gram-negative alphaproteobacteria, and Yersinia (Y.) pestis, the causative agent of plague. The results indicate the prevalence of Bartonella spp. and Y. pestis infection in rodents throughout the Echarate District in Cusco, Peru. The implications of the study for public health are also discussed.
