- Abstract
The authors recognize text messaging as a new patient-physician communication tool for improving preventive primary care services. They acknowledge the potential of text messaging as for patient reminder/recall. They see several challenges for the optimal use of text messaging such as patient consent and patient education, as well as the benefits and complexities of emerging health information technology.
