- Abstract
The authors reflect on the frequency and severity of lung diseases in adolescents who have HIV infection. Chronic respiratory illness (CRI) is a common problem in HIV-infected children and adolescents but a proper research to investigate in this area is lacking. The pathophysiology of lung damage in HIV-infected adolescents leads to parenchymal damage. It is suggested that spirometry helps in assessment of lung function and should be used on HIV-infected children and adolescents.
