- Abstract
The article offers information related to the OzFoodNet health surveillance network of Australia. It relates that OzFoodNet was established to improve surveillance, management and prevention of foodborne diseases across the country. Among the objectives OzFoodNet include to estimate the incidence and cost of foodborne illness in the country and investigate outbreaks of foodborne disease, particularly those crossing state and territory borders. Also, under the program, each state and territory health department employed at least one OzFoodNet epidemiologist to supplement local, state-based investigation of foodborne disease and to contribute to national surveillance and applied research.
