Ethical dilemmas in forensic clinical psychology.
- Authors
McGuire, James
- Abstract
The article explores the ethical dilemmas that emerge when psychologists attempt to work in a combined forensic and clinical psychology setting in Great Britain. An overview of the development of ethical codes for psychologists in English-speaking countries began by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the British Psychological Society (BPS) is provided. The dilemmas cited include the conflict within forensic activity between the role of advocate in contrast to the impartial informant in court hearings, the clinical and forensic responsibilities of the psychologist and making predictions about an individual's possible actions in the future.
