- Abstract
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the major detriments to public health in Brazil and in the world. Objective - Evaluate the care provided to patients with diabetes mellitus type 2, attended by the Family Health Strategy (FHS) No. 06, in the city of Paranoá. Methods - This is a quantitative field study, retrospective in type, in which we applied a household questionnaire with open and closed questions to 75 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, who were registered at the FHS No. 06 in the city of Paranoá - DF, in order to better understand the population served by the FHS, to map the epidemiological profile, and acquire insight into the lifestyle of this population, besides assessing the views of these patients about the services provided. Results - In this sample, female patients present a moderate prevalence (64%), with the highest proportion in the age group 60 years or over (65%). We found that 80% of the patients rate the care provided by the FHS as very good or good, and that most (65%) are satisfied with this service, not having any item to be improved. Conclusion - This study demonstrated that there is a good quality of care being provided to patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, by the FHS. The index of user satisfaction was positive, despite complaints of a lack of drugs and agility in services.
