- Abstract
The article highlights a study which aims to identify combinations of baseline metabolic characteristics that determined very high incidence of diabetes mellitus (DM) in non-diabetic insulin resistance atherosclerosis study (IRAS) subjects. During the trial, the waist, blood pressure, lipids and C-reactive protein of the subjects were determined. It has been found that requiring metabolic syndrome (MetS) with glucose-based definitions reduced prevalence of 7%.
