- Abstract
Seit nunmehr 150 Jahren dienen Langenbeck’s Archives of Surgery als ein Publikationsforum neuer operativer Verfahren und wissenschaftlicher Ideen dem Fortschritt im Bereich der Allgemein- und Viszeralchirurgie. Diesem Auftrag wird die Zeitschrift in den kommenden Jahrzehnten verpflichtet bleiben. Dazu gilt es die Herausforderungen zu erkennen, die an die Chirurgie durch zunehmende Spezialisierung ihrer Teilgebiete, moderne Technologien, und interdisziplinäre Behandlungskonzepte herangetragen werden. Eine konsequente Weiterverfolgung der Trauma-Reduktion bei chirurgischen Eingriffen wird nicht zuletzt notwendig sein, um der demographischen Entwicklung Rechnung zu tragen. Die Weiterentwicklung gegenwärtiger Operationstechniken wird durch die Einbeziehung fortschrittlicher Technologien aus den Bereichen der Biophysik, Mechatronik und moderne biomedizinische Bildgebungsverfahren mitbestimmt werden. Kenntnisse aus der molekularen- und genomischen Medizin werden zunehmend individualisierte, interdisziplinäre Therapieschemata maligner Erkrankungen ermöglichen, in welche chirurgische Resektionsverfahren zu integrieren sind. Die Implementierung neuer Diagnose- und Behandlungsverfahren bedarf eines sorgfältigen, evidenzbasierten Nachweises ihrer Wirksamkeit und Sicherheit, welcher nur durch klinische Studien erbracht werden kann. Eine wichtige Aufgabe der Langenbeck’s Archives of Surgery wird es daher sein, in klinischen und wissenschaftlichen Beiträgen relevante Studienideen zu erkennen, und die erfolgreiche Durchführung daraus erwachsender klinischer Studien zu begleiten.
