- Abstract
This article focuses on safety measures in the application of organophosphate insecticides. Tomato crops are very demanding and require pesticide treatments, since they are attacked by a variety of phytophagous organisms such as insects, nematodes, fungi and bacteria. Organophosphate insecticides are the pesticides most commonly used on tomato crops, because of their efficacy in the control of insect pests and their low cost. However, these pesticides are extremely toxic and pose a serious occupational hazard of pesticide poisoning.
