- Abstract
In the context of a dynamic extension of the mechanical-biological treatment (MBP) in Poland, more and more refuse derived fuels (RDF) from municipal waste are produced. Currently, the main recipient of RDF in Poland are cement kilns. Cement plants can be distinguished by fairly stringent requirements on fuel quality. High-quality fuel can be obtained from materials with high calorific value and low humidity. At the same time the legal requirements on achieving high levels of recycling and / or preparation for re-use of paper and plastic, reduce the possibility of producing RDF from these fractions of municipal waste. Fuel quality can be improved using a variety of technologies, including the separation of desired materials and /or drying of the waste in order to increase their calorific value. In this paper these technologies are described and discussed in more detail.
