- Abstract
Latex and chlorhexidine IgE levels in Swedish healthcare workers† Four of the chlorhexidine-positive participants had concomitant positive IgE for latex, and there was a significant association between a positive test for latex-specific IgE and chlorhexidine-specific IgE ( I P i < 0.001). During the 1980s and 1990s an epidemic of immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated hypersensitivity to natural rubber latex proteins in healthcare workers (HCWs) was seen.
