- Abstract
The article discusses the study which evaluates the hypotheses about the origin of the eukaryote cell. It has been explained in various scenarios that eukaryote cell is formed by fusion or endosymbiosis between archaeon and bacteria. To test these hypotheses, the study uses three criteria including a standard phylogenetic tests of gene distribution for archaeon and bacteria. The study found that the eukaryote lineage has diverged from an ancestor of archaea.
