- Abstract
The article reports on the incidence of lead shot ingestion in red-legged partridges, Alectoris rufa in Great Britain. The examination of gizzards for ingested lead shot provides information on current exposure that is usually eroded by the action of the gizzard of passed through the digestive tract. The study concluded that although the low incidence of lead shot ingestion found in the postmortem examination data may not accurately reflect the past prevalence in red-legged partridges.
