DISTRIBUCIÓN DE RAICES Y DE RADIACIÓN SOLAR EN EL DOSEL DE MAÍZ Y FRIJOL INTERCALADOS.

- Abstract
Los sistemas intercalados de maíz con frijol (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) han aumentado el rendimiento de las especies en comparación con sus cultivos simples y esta ventaja se debería a la complementariedad fisiológica de las especies y a la eficiencia en el uso de los recursos. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este estudio fue analizar el efecto del arreglo espacial del maíz y frijol, en la distribución de la biomasa áerea y de raíces, de radiación fotosintéticamente activa en el dosel de las plantas y la producción de grano de ambas especies. Este experimento se realizó en el 2012, en el campo experimental Valle de México y se cultivaron Zea mays L. ('H-155') y P. vulgaris L. ('Negro 8025') intercalados. Los arreglos fueron maíz (MM) y frijol (FF) en cultivos simples, dos surcos de maíz intercalados con dos de frijol (MMFF) y un surco alterno de cada especie (MFMF). Con los datos se hizo ANDEVA y comparación de medias (DMS; p⩽0.05) con el programa SAS® versión 9.00. El rendimiento mayor de maíz (p=0.014) se presentó cuando estaba intercalado y en MFMF hubo más área de exploración con presencia de raíces (7861 cm2) y lateral (186 cm2). En MM hubo menos rendimiento del grano de maíz (p⩽0.05) respecto de los arreglos intercalados, pues tuvo el valor más bajo de radiación fotosintéticamente activa transmitida al nivel del suelo (RFAts) y las raíces presentaron menos exploración lateral. El frijol en MFMF tuvo 38 % menos área con presencia de raíces y valores altos en la RFAts, respecto del cultivo simple, por lo cual disminuyeron la biomasa desde la prefloración, el IAF en el llenado de grano y su rendimiento. El frijol en MMFF incrementó su biomasa y el rendimiento del grano pues las hojas basales recibieron más RFA. La eficiencia relativa de la tierra fue 1.12 en el sistema MMFF y 1.07 en MFMF.
