- Abstract
This document discusses a study on the use of erythropoiesis stimulating agents (ESAs) as a treatment for anemia in low-risk myelodysplastic neoplasms (LR-MDS). The study used flow cytometry to analyze erythroid subpopulations in LR-MDS patients treated with ESAs and found that the response to ESAs was associated with an increase in certain bone marrow cells. However, this correlation was not seen in cases with a specific gene mutation. The study suggests that a combination of scoring and cell fraction analysis could predict ESA response in certain MDS cases.
