- Abstract
Purpose: The aim of this paper is to investigate the effects of role conflict, and work-life conflict on the academic employees' turnover intention in university and college in Malaysia. Design/methodology/approach: Descriptive and inferential statistics that aligned with the objectives and hypotheses of this study were used to analyze the data collected. Findings: Results showed that both selected exogenous constructs explained turnover intention among academic employees. Research limitations/implications: The findings of present study provide insights on ways to develop a better understanding on turnover intention. Practical implications: Provide an added value on Human Resource Development (HRD) practices in Malaysia, specifically, HRD practitioners in the education industry. Originality/value: This study highlights the need to focus on turnover intention from non-Western perspectives.
