The article focuses on the role of computers in the improvement and transformation of public health in India. Topics discussed include disease surveillance projects which are used for rapid transmission and analysis of morbidity data, the emergence of telemedicine which is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the delivery of healthcare services by healthcare professionals using information and communication technologies and the use of graphic information system (GIS).
