- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on labor markets in Indiana, specifically focusing on the phenomenon known as "The Great Resignation." The national unemployment rate peaked at 14.9% in April 2020 but has since dropped to 3.9% in April 2024. The job quit rate also increased during the pandemic, with over 47 million Americans quitting their jobs in 2021. The article examines labor force participation rates (LFPR) at the local level within Indiana's counties and identifies variations in patterns across different sociodemographic groups. It also discusses the impact of the pandemic on output and productivity, noting a slight decline in labor productivity between 2021 and 2022.
