- Abstract
The article discusses the fundamental uses on endoscopic surgery where gastroenterologists have embraced skills and techniques to diagnosis and intervention. It states that medical literature and guidelines are replete with articles from surgeons and gastroenterologists arguing the appropriate training and education. It notes the action of the American Board of Surgery (ABS) which begun addressing the training inequity that exists between surgeons and gastroenterologists.
