- Authors
Sundberg, Sara Brooks
- Abstract
An essay on legal aspects of women and property is presented, comparing women's wealth-holding in four Louisiana parishes under civil law with women's wealth-holding in two southern Mississippi counties under common law from 1811 to 1835. It compares how ethnic French women versus Anglo women fared under Louisiana law. The legal actions of Louisiana farm woman Ursule Trahan, from West Baton Rouge Parish, are also considered.
