- Abstract
The management of water in the Sabana Valle and its surrounding basins in the peri-urban area of the city of Acapulco, has been carried out without considering the socio-environmental conditions that underlie poverty, marginalization and its interaction with natural resources, so that the construction of risks due to deficit in drinking water services and their sanitation in a context of socio-environmental vulnerability of its inhabitants continues to persist. The objective was to determine the prevailing factors that affect socio-environmental vulnerability to the lack of drinking water and sanitation services in the Arroyo Las Cruces Micro-Basin. The systemic and basin approach was applied, as well as the multivariate technique Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA). Based on the relational analysis of the MCA results, the factors that determine socio-environmental vulnerability are the lack of public services, the population's dependence on contaminated natural resources, and low community participation in addressing community problems in the face of the prevalence of conflicts. The systemic relationship between these factors limits socio-organizational capacities, which could affect participatory processes in water management under a local governance scheme to ensure water supply and sanitation in marginal areas in this peri-urban space.
