- Abstract
The article reflects on the agreement between the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches embracing each other as sister churches since the Second Vatican Council in 1962-1965, made by Pope Paul VI and the Patriarch of Constantinople Athenagoras I in January 1964. It notes the common ideas of Mary, the Mother of God, in both churches that united them. It mentions the apostolic exhortation of Pope Paul VI affirming that Catholics unite themselves with their devotion to the Blessed Virgin.
