- Abstract
This article explores the importance of small and medium-sized cities (PMVs) in Canada, highlighting their unique realities and contributions to regional development. The authors discuss challenges faced by PMVs, such as resource allocation towards larger cities, and emphasize the need to understand their specificities. The article includes empirical research and addresses theoretical and empirical questions related to the conceptualization, planning, development, governance, and sociability of PMVs. The document is a summary of a special section that covers various topics including sustainable development, revitalization, democracy, school closures, equitable housing access, and food systems, aiming to contribute to a better understanding of urban phenomena in Canada and encouraging further research and public debate.
