- Title
SPARTINA MARSHES IN SOUTHERN ENGLAND.
- Authors
HUBBARD, J. C. E.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the pattern of invasion and the quantitative estimate of change of Spartina townsendii from the mudflats of Poole Harbour in England. The interest in the type of grass is discussed, including its origin, unusual habitat, and possible uses in reclamation and protection of coastal mudflats in the country. The early collections of Spartina species were composed entirely of a plant with sterile stamens. Moreover, a cytological investigation gives corrected chromosome numbers for the different types of grasses.
