- Abstract
Dogs are the new members of the family nucleus, making canine healthcare essential for the maintenance of mutual well-being. Thus, new pathologies are more commonly reported in companion animals, including tumors, which are directly related to age, race, genetics, environmental and hormonal influences. Therefore, the objective of this study was to present the casuistry of neoplasias of the Hospital Escola Veterinário (HEV) of the Faculdade de Jaguariúna (FAJ) between 2012 and 2015, evaluating the location of the tumors, sex, age and race of the affected animals. For this purpose, 325 dog records were analyzed. The highest occurrence of neoplasms was in females, being the most affected age between 8 and 12 years and breast tumors the most frequent. Neoplasms were more frequent in SRD and Poodle breed animals, with carcinoma, mastocytoma and lymphoma being the most frequent tumor types. The absence of diagnostic tests in the majority of the cases, made it impossible to determine the incidence of neoplastic types. It was concluded that the diagnostic test has a fundamental role, because through this, it is possible to institute a specific and effective treatment for each type and degree of the pathology, increasing the chance of success the chance of success of the treatment
