- Abstract
The article provides an overview about the registration of the cultivar Commander durum wheat under the Registration Number CV 1001, PI 641222. The cultivar was developed at the Semiagrid Prairie Agricultural Research Center, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Swift Current and has received registration on August 13, 2004. It was released due to its good quality attributes, specifically its gluten strength. It was granted Plant Breeder's Rights on April 7, 2006 by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency with the certificate number 2423. Commander was selected from the cross breed of other cultivars and was developed by a modified pedigree breeding method. It has agronomic performance, disease resistance and quality such as protein, pigment and gluten strength.
