- Abstract
Objective: This study was planned to examine the Turkish validity and reliability of the "Therapeutic Relationship Evaluation Scale-Nurse Form", which was developed to evaluate the therapeutic relationship between patient-nurse in a sample of psychiatric nurses. Material and Methods: The universe of this research, which was designed in a methodological design, consisted of psychiatric nurses working in a psychiatric hospital. No sample selection was made and the study was terminated with the participation of 146 nurses (n=146). Research data were collected online between June and October 2022. "Content Validity Index" for the content validity of the scale, "exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis" for construct validity, for reliability, "Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient, item-total score analysis" and test-retest method were used. 35 psychiatric nurses participated in the test-retest method. Results: The content validity index score of the scale was found to be 0.975 (excellent). Within the scope of construct validity; according to the explanatory factor analysis, it was seen that the total explained variance was 56.441% and gathered under four factors. According to confirmatory factor analysis, index values provide good model fit. Within the scope of reliability; Cronbach's alpha coefficient was found to be 0.884 (high), and test-retest measurements did not show any variation (p>0.05). Conclusion: The Turkish version of the Therapeutic Relationship Assessment Scale-Nurse Form is valid and reliable for psychiatric nurses. In future studies, it may be recommended to test the scale with psychiatric nurses with a larger sample, nurses who work in different clinical settings and with different patient groups, and student nurses.
