- Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study is to examine a very common in business life, but can not be called or noticed and can not be fought against, psychological violence, the most common personality traits of nurses working in the health sector-in order to determine whether there is a link between the workload and the psychological violence. Material and Methods: The study was designed using descriptive-relational method, sample selection was done through purposive sampling and 61 people have participated in the study voluntarily. The following tools were used for data collection: descriptive characteristics questionnaire for assessing descriptive characteristics and workload of the nurses; temperament and character inventory (with 240-statements) for determining personality traits of the nurses who participated in the research; and Perception Assessment Scale that has been devised Leymann typology for evaluating mobbing. Results: Average score of Perception Assessment Scale was found to be 162.64±11,92 among women, and 167.54±13,97 among men, which is quite high. According to the results of Pearson correlation analysis, no significant relationship was found between Perception Assessment Scale and indicators of work load. Regarding the subdimensions of temporament and character inventory, self-directedness and cooperativeness average scores were found to be high, whereas persistence score was low among women, and harm avoidance score was low among men. Conclusion: In the study, no significant relationship was detected between mobbing and workload, but mobbing score of the nurses was found to be quite high.
