- Abstract
The article focuses on the duty of residential care homes of ensuring that the safety of residents is paramount with regard to drug administration. The Commission for Social Care Inspection found that nearly half of homes for the elderly and a third of homes for adults failed to meet minimum standards for medication management, despite the emphasis of the commission on the important role of medicines in promoting the quality of life and independence of residents.
