- Abstract
Introducción: La alergia a alimentos, patología cada vez más frecuente en la infancia, se trataba hasta hace unos años con la evitación del alimento. En alimentos como leche y huevo, puede llevar a una alimentación deficitaria, y aparición de síntomas, incluso graves, por contacte accidental o inadvertido con el alimento. Objetivo: Adquirir conocimientos sobre inducción a la tolerancia en alergia a alimentos en niños. Metodología: Revisión sistemática de veinte artículos científicos en bases de datos como Pubmed y Cuiden y revistas como Allergology International y Pediatría Integral entre otras, así como comunicaciones de la Asociación Española de Pediatría y la Sociedad de Pediatría de Asturias, Cantabria y Castilla y León. Resultados: Desde hace una década, se ha optado por actitudes intervencionistas: reeducando el mecanismo celular y serológico, para corregir una reacción inadecuada a través del aumento progresivo de la cantidad umbral tolerada, basado en pautas adaptadas a cada caso. Según la bibliografía consultada, se ha conseguido alcanzar la tolerancia con porcentajes de éxito de entre el 70 y el 95%, fundamentalmente frente a la leche de vaca y al huevo. Así mismo, se pone de manifiesto la posibilidad de inducir tolerancia en pacientes anafilácticos. Conclusiones: Es preciso contar con profesionales entrenados y medios que controlen posibles reacciones graves durante el proceso; así como investigaciones que aumenten nuestro conocimiento sobre marcadores de riesgo de mala evolución y sobre cambios inmunológicos que se producen durante y tras la inducción de tolerancia.
