The importance of defining pre-dementia syndromes such as MCR arises from the fact that it provides an opportunity to shift treatment goalposts for cognitively impaired patients. The association of MCR with falls may be because this syndrome maps on to both cognitive and gait impairments, which are strong risk factors for falls [10].
